Latin American Revolutions Haiti Harry Styles Song Analysis Activity
This activity helps when reviewing the events of the Haitian Revolution. Students listen to Harry Styles "Sign of the Times." They review the lyrics and connect them (teacher guided questions are included) to the Haitian Revolution. 8 questions are tied to the lyrics along with a reflection for discussion. "Weeping" Song Apartheid Lesson
"Weeping" is a song made famous by Josh Groban but was originally written by Dan Heymann, a white South African man. It is a protest song against apartheid. This lesson includes a copy of the lyrics, a link to the video on YouTube, a graphic organizer for students to follow as they listen to the song and perform a close reading on the song, a follow up homework assignment and detailed directions for the teacher. This song should be treated like a primary source document in the classroom.
