Measurement Song - Length, Perimeter, Area and Capacity
This is a simple song to use in class to help students remember the various forms of measurement.It's to the tune of "Farmer in the Dell." There are other songs like this out there but this is my take on it since I do not like using "High-ho, the derry-o" line since it has no relation to what I want the kids to learn/remember.The images have been referenced since they are not mine.

I even see them muttering the words to the song on a test to help them remember. As a teacher, writer and musician I have been writing songs for years that relate to classroom curriculum. My goal in elementary education for 34 years was to do anything I could to inspire kids to learn and have fun at the same time.
This song,MEASUREMENT SONG, is one of the dozens I have written for classroom use. It contains six verses, each one about a different method for measuring things, and using it in my class has always resulted in kids wanting to add a verse or to create activities

This song was written for a third grade class. We struggle with remembering the exact conversions of measurment. I wrote this song and then we used it the rest of the year. I was thrilled when I was monitoring and seeing them sing to themselves. I couldn't believe the difference just putting it to a funny little tune could be. This song starts with converting inches to feet, feet to yards and yards to miles. Enjoy!

Measurement Cadence
I created this cadence to help my 2nd grade class remember the different units of measurement that we cover in our lessons. It focuses on centimeters, inches, and feet in the first 'verse' and length and width in the second 'verse.' I've added a color coding key to assist in how the cadence is read.
