This is a great end of year research project for any math course at a multitude of grade levels! From start to end of presentations, this project took me two weeks to complete - I give specific dates for each goal and give a grade for completion of each goal. The points I gave are listed on the information sheet. I created this in Word and it can be edited to fit your classroom and your needs. Students are asked to research a famous mathematician, write a research paper and give a presentation.

Exponential Function Graphing Project
This project is for an Algebra or Algebra 2 class. The subject of the project is exponential functions. During this project, students will research college tuition data, determine rate of change, graph real-world exponential data, calculate average, and calculate amount using the compound interest formula. This is meant as an exploration to introduce linear functions with students having no knowledge on the subject. The students must examine definitions, graphs, and equations using devices to access that internet. Graphing calculators help as well.
