Middle East History Conflict Project
This is a fun hands-on project where students will work in groups analyzing historical conflicts through the lens of an artist through music, pictures, and video to compare and contrast why and how conflicts impact a nation.
• The students will analyze, interpret, infer and conclude how conflicts have shaped nations.
• They will complete a gallery walk, analyze a parody, videos and create a visual parody/skit explaining one of the conflicts that have shaped our world.

Japanese Ukiyo-e Prints and Haiku Poems
A project we enjoy doing is combining Japanese Ukiyo-e prints with haiku poetry. A Ukiyo-e print is a traditional woodblock print depicting everyday life in 17th -19th century Japan. A haiku is a Japanese poem comprised of 3 lines. We like the sophistication of this project because it exposes students to greater cultural awareness and introduces them to more complex ideas and techniques, both in the visual arts and language arts.
