In this activity, which is based on Carlos Linnaeus' animal classification system, student will identify a new creature that they have discovered. They begin by using their creativity to think of a creature that does not exist. It has them identifying the characteristics of three of the five Kingdoms and then takes them through identifying their creature from Phylum all the way to Species.

Students are required to use their knowledge of the Law of Cross-Cutting and Superposition to give relative and absolute age of rock layers. Regular Science and Pre-AP Science Rubrics included. Students can either make a stand alone representation or a poster, but the poster must be 3D, made with textures. Students can use anything (cereal, twigs, glitter, ANYTHING, etc. to give texture to each layer). Students present their project (I grade with the rubric WHILE it is being presented)
