This is an investigation into fingerprint types and occurrences. It is a science and math lesson that involves the students classifying their own fingerprints and finding out the most common type of fingerprint. It takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the amount of background knowledge the students have. The students also have the opportunity to work with a buddy and as a class. This could be done as a science fair project!

Interactive Fossil Dig - Paleontology Unit Study

This paleontology unit can be broken down into two lessons. In the first you will cover the different rock layers. In the following lesson you can create a mini dig site for your students and have them find different "fossils" or objects you've placed. Talk about how everything we would find is from the Cenozoic age. Then have them figure out how deep they would have to dig to reach the older time periods.
