Use all the hype around fake news in this emergency sub plan focused on fake science. This exercise requires no preparation time. Simply make a classroom set of articles and go. Chocolate Chip Cookie Conversions Lab
Students will convert a chocolate chip cookie recipe from the English System to the Metric System. Students will then be required to measure the volume and mass of their ingredients and combine them to create the dough. Periodic Table Battleship
This is a great way to get kids to practice using the words period and group while getting acquainted with the periodic table. At a higher level you can have them practice the family names such as Noble gases or Alkali metals instead of Group numbers.
