NOGGLE!- A Fun Math Warm-Up Activity

Noogle is played like the game Boggle, but uses numbers instead. Students are challenged to find a string of numbers that meet the different categories. Students may use any operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication or division). Great for GATE students, early finishers, or as a Math Center activity. Product comes as a Microsoft Word document so that you can change the numbers as often as you would like. You can also keep the grid blank and have students write in their own numbers or

4 pages of math activities that involve the use of M&Ms. I bought small individual packs or buy a big bag and put into tiny paper cups. You can edit the document to use Fruit Loops or Skittles. The kids had a blast with this. They use the M&Ms to plot points on a coordinate graph and solve a riddle. M&Ms are uses as variables. Word problems are based on the nutritional value of the M&Ms. It is a very HANDS-ON and visual activity.

Combining Like Terms Partner Activity

In this activity, students will work with a partner to complete 15 practice problems involving combining like terms. This is similar to a think, pair, share activity. Students should have knowledge of variables and integers before completing this activity. Each student solves his or her own problem. Both problems are different, but the answers are the same. This is a great way to practice combining like terms! The answer key is included along with a student handout. You can also edit as n

This project involves the design and creation of a bead wrist bracelet based on the student's answers to a series of Order of Operations problems. This is typically a 6th thru 8th grade math project activity, but I have used it in my Algebra 1 and Math 1 classes as a review project. It reinforces the student's understanding and ability to accurately solve Order of Operations problems. The students are given (or provide for themselves) a set of multi-color, letter or number beads (or combinati

Each color coded set of Order of Operations numbers go together. I put them each in a different envelope with the answer on the front. Students must piece together the numbers, exponents, parentheses, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division signs to create the answer you are looking for. It creates a little higher order thinking in the classroom, and is aligned to Common Core Standards: 6.EE.A.1,

Order of Operations Project

This project is a fun way for students to practice their skills with order of operations. Students roll a die to come up with 4 numbers that they then need to use to create expressions resulting in a solution of the numbers 0 - 15. They may use the numbers as exponents, use any operation, and use parentheses as much as they'd like. There is a grading rubric along with instructions provided.

Students can practice the order of operations in a fun dominoes game! There are 10 domino pieces. Students must cut them out, simplify the expressions on the right and match it up with the correct answer! Have the students glue their dominoes in order on a piece of construction paper. I had my students show their work on loose leaf paper and attach it to the back of their final product. Fun and different way to practice! Could be used as a math center as well.

Order of Operations Puzzlers

This activity challenges students higher order thinking around order of operations. The students are given equations that have to determine if the solution is correct. If it is not correct there is a way to "fix" it by adding parentheses into the expression based on order of operations. Students have to determine where the parentheses would go to "fix" the equation.
