Wheel of Theodorus Pythagorean Theorem Art Project
Any chance I can to give students the ability to be creative in math, I take it! This is an enrichment project I use during my Pythagorean Theorem unit. Students are tasked with applying their knowledge of the Pythagorean Theorem to create a Wheel of Theodorus. The download is a word doc., so you have the ability to edit it to fit the needs of your classroom.
Compass Animals
Students can choose between 6 different animals to construct completely out of circles. By constructing their animals they are practicing measuring with a ruler (using both metric and English measurements) and using a compass. This is also great review for circle vocabulary such as radius and diameter.
This activity includes the instructions for a bear, panda, turtle, pig, frog, and lady bug. Each animal has the dimensions for all body parts.

Parallel Lines Cut by Transverals, and Interior and Exterior Angles in Triangles
This can be used as a homework assignment, a class activity, or even enrichment! Students are challenged to recall the rules of congruency in corresponding angles, vertical angles, alternate exterior angles, and interior adjacent angles, and apply rules of solving equations to find the missing values. Surface Area Murder Mystery in 3D
A great activity where students solve problems to see who did it! It covers surface area and volume of cones, spheres, and cylinders. My students loved this, but they are very competitive! It is in word format so you could change the names to teachers at your school.

Paper Airplane Math
Students make paper airplanes in this hands on STEM high interest activity. Students design, edit, revise and test their designs. They then enter two contests the distance challenge and the target challenge. Students measure how far their plane flies as well as find the area, perimeter and surface area of their planes. Teachers set up the area for the target challenge and students see if they can land their planes in it. Students also collect data and determine the mean and median.

Students will draw a floor plan of their dream home, research different types of flooring, calculate how many square feet of space the have in each room, and calculate how much it would cost to put floors down in their home!
