Genetic Disorder Presentation (PPnt & Presentation...Rubric & Explanation)
This is such a great research project after students have learned about genetics, DNA, and mutations. It ties in all of the curriculum and makes it real life. The students love diving into the the "medical worlds" and gives them a sense of professionalism as they present. This comes with an Excel spreadsheet that I couldn't attach to this, so its a free resource on my shop. It has list of genetic disorders that students can choose from. I draw names and let the students pick so it is fair. *Edit

While investigating our genetics unit I have my 7th graders play the role of a geneticist and analyze a patient's karyotype to diagnose a mystery disease or disorder. The students love this interactive lesson and compare their patient with peers each year!
