Editable - Disease Detectives: Diagnosis Letter

While investigating our genetics unit I have my 7th graders play the role of a geneticist and analyze a patient's karyotype to diagnose a mystery disease or disorder. The students love this interactive lesson and compare their patient with peers each year! I've created an extension activity requiring students to write a letter of diagnosis to their patient including information about the disease as well as authentic treatment options and support services. This has been a great way to incorporate ELA standards and writing practice in the science curriculum! I've included instructions for students and a rubric for grading.
