Sink v. Float Science Experiment

Have your students explore the properties of water with this science experiment! In pairs or small groups, have your students make a prediction about each item on the list. (Will it float in water? Hello! Here are all my elementary STEM lessons and other resources for grades K-5. Fun ideas and experiments that use balloons to explore scientific principles and concepts. I used these as mini-labs for a four hour Saturday workshop for students ages 3-8. Each lab has a website listed where you can print out the full experiment. Included: Bernoulli's Principle, Hex Nut in a Balloon, Blow up a Balloon using Chemistry, Rocket Balloon. Plus more fun activities for your lesson plans.

Then they graphed their predictions on chart paper for everyone to see. After they had each graphed their hypothesis, they recorded the graph onto their recording sheet. The final step was to put the predictions to the test! I brought a large clear bowl in to school, and filled it with water. I had the students plac
