I designed this weekly curriculum when I started teaching homeschoolers and adults. However, I used it as a guide to make up a Spanish One curriculum for the entire year in virtual school. Thanksgiving/ Indigenous Day Craft in Spanish
This is an art project involving pasting dried beans/corn atop the corresponding feather colors of the turkey ("pavo"). Students learn the colors in Spanish and glue on corn (yellow/amarillo), pintos (pink/rosado), black beans (black/negro), and red beans (red/rojo). These are all products of South America which is noted (Suramerica).

How to choose "just right" books in English and Spanish poster
The 5 finger method is a way to teach students how to choose just right books for their book bins,or baskets during reading workshop. The idea is students will be more engaged if they choose their own books to practice the reading strategies taught during reading workshop. This product can be placed in the students' reading journal once it has been taught. It can also be made as a class poster for student use. It is available in Spanish and English.

Spanish Poem about pumpkins!
This is a sweet little poem that helps children get into the Fall spirit and learn adjectives in Spanish at the same time. if you use it with little pumpkin projects it is awesome! Teach kids to make gestures as they recite it, since it is all about feelings and big and small. Younger students absolutely LOVE to act out the angry and scary pumpkins!
Las partes de la cara: Parts of the face in Spanish
This activity should be used for students learning the body parts in Spanish. I used this with 1st and 2nd graders but it could be used with all elementary grades learning Spanish. It only includes the parts of the face but that was a sufficient amount of vocabulary for our 45 minute lesson.
*Note- This activity should be used after the colors have been taught.

Mexican Folk Mirrors
Have the students observe and participate during September for National Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day (September 16) by assembling and designing Mexican folk art mirrors in the colors of red, white and green- the Mexican flag colors. These Mexican mirrors are created in the traditional folk art method that reflect who they are and they will write thoughts about themselves on the flap to reveal their reflection.
