    Description

Make teaching Chemistry easy with this Complete Chemistry Unit 6: The Elements and the Periodic Table Bundle. This product contains every resouce you need, no planning necessary. This bundle includes 8 products!

The unit plan is a fully editable combined unit and daily lesson plan

covers 7 blocks or 14 periods of a secondary Chemistry course. SIOP, gifted, and differentiation strategies are embedded and easily identified throuought. Lessons are differnetiated accoding to learning style, grouping, and language ability. Both content and literacy standards as well as key vocabulary words, essential questions, activating strategies, instructional strategies, and summarizing strategies are included and highlighted. dards:

SC4: Students will use the organization of the Periodic Table to predict the properties of elements.

    • a. Use the Periodic Table to predict periodic trends including atomic radii, ionic radii, ionization energy, and electronegativity of various elements.
    • b. Compare and contrast trends in the chemical and physical properties of elements and their placement on the Periodic Table.

    Literacy Standards:

    • L11-12RST3: Follow precisely a complex multistep procedure when carrying out experiments, taking measurements, or performing technical tasks; analyze the specific results based on explanations in the text.
    • L11-12RST8: Evaluate the hypotheses, data, analysis, and conclusions in a science or technical text, verifying the data when possible and corroborating or challenging conclusions with other sources of information.

    Content Objectives (TSWBAT):

    1. Trace the development and identify key features of the Periodic Table.
    2. Explain why elements in the same group have similar properties.
    3. Identify the four blocks of the periodic table based on electron configuration.
    4. Compare period and group trends of several properties.
    5. Relate period and group trends in atomic radii to electron configuration.
    6. Explain how elements in a given group are both similar and different.

    Language Objectives:

    1. Read, define, and discuss key vocabulary terms: alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, electronegativity, group, halogen, inner transition metal, ion, ionization energy, metal, metalloid, noble gas, nonmetal, octet rule, period, periodic law, representative elements, transition metal
    2. Listen and write key points discussed in lecture.
    3. Calculate, draw, and appropriately color observed periodic trends in a graph.
    4. Analyze and interpret conclusions based on experimental data gathered from accurate measurement procedures. This resource will save you hours of planning time. Simply add your class title and upload or print for your own lesson plans.
