Black History Month. Everywhere you look you can see the inventions of Black people. The African American has continued to contribute to the fabric of America by inventing many things that can be identified at home, school, and in the community. As you relate with your young child(ren) or students, identify the wonderful inventions that they can see daily. An invention can be something that is completely new that did not exist before or it can be an improvement on something that was already

November is Military Family Appreciation Month - Pendant/Button, Digital File

I created these "buttons" for my elementary students to cut out, color and wear (with tape!) as a Military Family Appreciation Month activity. The other page features an open heart, where students can draw in whatever they would like (their family, pattern, patriotic colors). With your purchase, you will receive the pictured PDF files with 6 "buttons" on each of the 2 pages to print out as many as you need.

Mayflower NEEDS vs. WANTS

Created by
Nicole Barker
This graphic organizer is a great way to teach "wants vs needs" during the holiday season! First, I discuss how limited the Pilgrims were in the items they could bring with them on the Mayflower, then I use this graphic organizer to brainstorm what they would want to bring and what they would need to bring with them if they were going on this trip. Depending on the grade level, students could either draw or write their list of needs and wants.

I SPY Open House

Need an activity for parents to do when they get to Open House? This is an editable "I Spy" Open House activity that parents and students can use to go search for all of the activities they made for open house. This is a checklist that you can use to have parents go around the classroom and check off each activity that they go to! It makes it easier on the teacher so that when they get there they can focus on what they need to go look at.

Qualifications of the President Handout

I use this when teaching students about the informal qualifications and shared traits of the United States presidents. Students analyze the profiles to decide which candidate they think would be most likely to win in an election. Each candidate is a former U.S. president, so there is no correct or incorrect answer.
