This is one Reading Workshop SMARTBoard Lesson that can be used with any read aloud. The lesson has 4 short reading stories for the class to practice identifying who is telling the story. Then students practice the skill on their own independently in their own leveled books while the timer is going.
I created this lesson to introduce the Common Core Standard 1.RL.6 - Identify who is telling the story at various points in a text.

This is a TEI Sol reading comprehension review. The passage is the first slide, I print a copy for each student so they can do their highlighting. The questions are on author's purpose, reference materials, antonyms, fact and opinion, main idea, suffix, keyword search, stanzas and lines, cause and effect, homophones, setting, fiction/nonfiction. Nonfiction Text Features - Introduction / Examples
An important part of learning to read nonfiction texts is being able to identify nonfiction features and to understand how they help you as a reader.

Making Inferences with Taylor Swift
