This document is intended to be used as a springboard to start your own class book list. The books included in this list are popular 5th grade book titles. The document is based upon information from Accelerated Reader (Renaissance Place). Book level refers to appropriate grade level. 4.5 would be equivalent to a mid-year 4th grade reading level. 5.9 would be equivalent to an end of 5th grade year reading level.

I’m Done Now What?
This activity provides suggestions of what students can do when they complete their work. They can choose to complete them in a notebook, folder or computer. Each page can be used as a template and activites can be adjusted to match what you are teaching. This can also be done as a May Do, Must Do.
Reward System

Journal Write Prompts
This is a great tool to create writing journals for Pre-K or K students. Some of the prompts include pictures so that you can begin teaching about lines, details, and colors. Group Work Roles - Horizontal Name Tags
If your students are struggling to get along when working in groups, using group work jobs or roles can really help. These are modified from the research of Elizabeth Cohen, and include Name Tags and Descriptions for an Accountability Agent, Facilitator, Harmonizer, Materials Manager, and Time Keeper. Explicit teaching of the roles and their descriptions before beginning the group work is really helpful. Students should also rotate roles every day, so all students get to experience all roles.

4-2-1 Summary Organizer
This summary organizer can be used across the curriculum. First, students identify four key ideas. Next, they narrow them to two key ideas. Finally, they decide on the most important main idea.
