Editable Guided Reading Checklist

This is a checklist that I use every day in my guided reading groups. Simply write each student's name in the far left column, and check off different observations while that student is reading. This is much quicker than handwriting your observations and saves me a lot of time! You can also use a highlighter to highlight your observations if you choose.

Skills to look for during guided reading: background knowledge, text features, predicting, appropriate rate, appropriate voice level, clear, decoding, self-correcting, fluent, personal connection, voice/expression, reading punctuation, reading dialogue, re-reading, following along, inferencing, cause/effect, vocabulary, comprehension, questioning

You can edit this however you may need, this is just the list of skills I look for most frequently. There is also a small box to make any additional notes. I use one page for every five students, and this page will last for 3 guided reading sessions.
