ASL Scattergories

Use this game to review vocabulary. It is a word documents that can be edited to fit your classroom needs. Categories are: colors, clothes, people, what people enjoy doing, animals, cities/states, holidays, time, classroom items, and school locations/items.I use this as a review for my ASL 2, 3, or 4 classes the first week of school. It's also perfect for a review game near the end of ASL 1.

Use this game to review vocabulary. It is a word documents that can be edited to fit your classroom needs. Categories are: school subjects, states, countries, things on a road trip, kitchen things, excuses for arriving late, things that have spots, Halloween costumes, things you throw away, and Christmas gifts. Pass out the paper and randomly play a game throughout the year. Or take an entire class period to play the game. I like to use it for a "Fun Friday" activity.

Give one student in each group a category card and write the category on the board. S1 can give hints as to the words that are on the card, S2 (3-4) must guess the five words on the card by fingerspelling them. Set a timer for 2 min and see which pair/group can guess all/the most words in the category!

Face Charades

Created by
Maria Harrah
This was meant for ASL class, but it could be used as a brain break. It is prompts set up for a game of Charades with a Twist- you are ONLY allowed to use facial expressions! The prompts are color-coded by category, but you can also mix it up for a challenge. It's very basic, and not as pretty as most on here, but it is editable and your students will love the game! There are also blank cards for you to add your own.
