I created this project for my 7th grade science class, but it is appropriate for any middle school grade. It would also be great for ICP in high school. You can reduce the number of requirements listed to fit the needs of your class.
Students will create an original board game to learn about work and simple machines. I put my students in groups of 3-4. To begin, I have the groups brainstorm and talk about their favorite board games. I have them make a list of these games to use as inspiration.

Energy Unit Question Quest
I call this a Question Quest. It is a modified scavenger hunt. I printed off each question and laminated it. I put the 13 questions around the room in order. The students have 1-2 minutes (depends on our students) to answer the question. They rotate when I say rotate. They write the answers on their own sheet of paper to save from having to copy an answer sheet for each one (I always try to do that to make the principal happy :-) ) When they leave a station, they can not go back to it.
