Painting Project with Artist Research in Artist's Style
This is a 3 part project assignment sheet. The project has students compile research on a famous artist into a Powerpoint, recreate a famous work of art as a small copy, then create their own work of art in the style of a famous artist.

Classic Self-Portrait (with Technology)
This unit is a blend of technology, painting and Art History. The students will research a Master's painters portrait, pose as the subject, take a digital photo and paint on top of that photocopy.
This unit is a 4.5 day lesson. The 1/2 day lesson is meant for grading a rubric.
I've included some student examples for you to view. I use this with my 6th graders, but it could be altered for many age groups and abilities.

IB Unit: The Way I see It
This is a high school level unit that meets all the requirements of the IB standards. Everything is included: the unit plan, lessons and rubrics. Students study events from recent history and the artistic creations that resulted. Students then create their own painting to "heal" from a historical event of their choice. This unit is powerful and uses relevant events from history to engage high school students.
