Design a Solar System Project
In this culminating project, students demonstrate their understanding of the life cycle of a star, the formation of the solar system, and various aspects in Astronomy. Students are asked to design their own solar system using a known OR made up star and explaining the star based on the HR Diagram. There is a minimum requirement of 6 planets, one requiring moons and another requiring life forms. Astronomy Planet Project
Students love to do this project with my Astronomy unit! They tap into their creative side by making a model of a planet (drawing, Google Slide presentation, clay model, painting, poster, etc). Students must present the info specified for the project (weather, precipitation, how far from the sun, how far from Earth, etc.). This usually takes 1-2 weeks to complete depending on your school schedule. Rubric is included!

Science Final Project
Sometimes it's hard to keep students focused towards the end of the school year. I use this project to fight that! This project gives students the freedom to choose the science topic and type of delivery they want for the project. For example, I've had students make a rap video on photosynthesis (my favorite project turned in!), a complete lesson on the order of planets in the solar system to younger elementary students, and a pop-up book on the different biomes of the world!
