36 questions with key...Complete test for the City of Ember novel includes multiple choice, matching, sequencing, and choice of two essay questions. 36 questions (2.5 [points each) plus essay (10 points, at teacher's discretion.) Questions are a mix of recall and higher-level interpretation, with several questions linking novel to elements of fiction such as symbolism and plot climax. This poster is a great tool to use when teaching students the difference between first person and third person point of view. It gives the meanings of each along with clue words that can be found while reading a text to determine the point of view. The file is a Microsoft Publisher file and will open in that program. It will print on three pages and it will need to be put together after printing. Laminate for extra durability.

Book tastings are a fun and engaging way to get kids to try new books! I used this as an after-school activity but it could easily be used in a reading class or any class where a book is being picked.
We dressed up as waitresses and gave students this menu. We had the books preselected on a cart. Students can circle what books they want and then put their order in.

VIP (Very Important Part) Bookmark - Editable!
This bookmark is used by students while reading a novel or longer piece to make note of important details they will want to refer back to later. It is used as a "quick jot" so that they just need to note the page number, placement on page, and reason for marking. When completing discussions and later follow-up work, students can then quickly find the information previously marked without having to flip through the entire novel.
