Middle School Library Media Specialist
Young adults have unique needs and concerns. Developing a collection and programs for this population should be tailored to their interests. Through my masters program at the University at Buffalo I have learned several key areas that interest teens. Their minds are still developing and learning. Having books and materials related to issues in their lives can help encourage teens to check out programs and parts of the collection. I feel confident that I will be able to select these materials and create programs that any teen would enjoy. Recently, I completed a year term with Americorp where I worked as a Family Educator for Youth and Family Intervention Program. These experiences have given me a lot of exposure to the diverse community in our area, and helped me gain further perspective on their issues.
