The Football Number Line Volume 2 is a great way to work with adding positive and negative numbers. It is an interactive lesson that you need a whiteboard with a projector to play. This lesson promotes teamwork, technology, and reinforcement of adding integers. It not only focuses on integers but offers the flexibility of incorporating the skills needed for basic math, pre-algebra, and algebra. It is a great way to involve some of those hard to reach students. This is a great review game in prep

Properties Sort

I created this sort for students to work on in pairs or small groups. The sheet would need to be cut apart so students can sort the examples. The top cards with titles, should be used to set up the sort. I kept it small to save paper, but you can expand the table to make the cards bigger!

Solving Literal Equations - Notes

Guided notes teaching how to solve literal equations. The notes contain problems laid out so that students can see the patterns between solving regular two-step equations with numbers versus solving two-step equations with variables and shapes/symbols. Common formulas are included as well, with the emphasis at the end of the notes on solving for y and verifying that a point is in the solution set to set up our next unit (graphing linear equations). I also have a corresponding assignment of the s

Homework/Practice - Distributive Property - Multiplication - Two Levels

This homework asks students to use the distributive property (multiplication) to simplify expressions. The front side of the worksheet asks students to perform a one step problem. The back of the page asks students to simplify a problem using the distributive property but then they will need to combine like terms before arriving at their final answer. The final section of the worksheet asks students to circle any expressions they see that can be simplified using the distributive property. St

Order of Operations

Explaining to students how to use the Order of Operations to simplify complicated-looking algebraic expressions can be a daunting exercise at times. I have attempted to make the process of understanding as simple as possible and hope that my input would be beneficial to those students who experience problems comprehending mathematical concepts.
