TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my sixth year of teaching. My certification is in Math grades 7-12. I began teaching in an IB/Magnet High School in Rochester, NY where I taught Precalculus, Computer Programming, and Math A. After 2 successful years, my family moved to Florida where we could enjoy the sunshine year round. For the past 4 years, I have been teaching in a suburban High School in Florida. In addition to teaching Geometry, Algebra, and AP Calculus AB, I co-chair the math department. I am currently working on my National Board Certification.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Currently, I am teaching 3 very different levels of students. In my calculus class, I have typed "fill in" notes that we complete daily. There is a significant homework assignment given each day, and we supplement using the D&S Marketing Book, and George Best's spiral review book. Our primary text book is Larson 7th edition. In my geometry class, I give the students notes on the overhead. Then we complete a review of the lesson worksheet together. There is daily homework. We also have journals to record our thoughts about what we have been reading. We use the Prentice Hall Florida Geometry series. In Algebra IB, my students are low functioning and math is not really their thing. Most of my class is either ESE or ESOL. We move much slower in this class. I use a lot of graphic organizers. We do a topic about every three days, with lots of practice in between. In this class, we use the Glencoe Algebra 1 text.
