Communist Grading Simulation
In an attempt to have students understand the pros and cons of communism, students are broken up into two groups. Electoral College Map Activity (3 min 31 min Video with directions/ex.)
This hands-on activity allows students to gain a better conceptual understanding of how the electoral college plays into the overall strategy to win the presidency. Students color code the states based on their projections as strong dem, lean dem, toss up, lean rep, and strong rep. *The activity has the side affect of reinforcing knowledge of state locations/spellings, and the relative populations of the various states!
