In this mini-project, students will design and draw to scale (plan and elevation views) their dream vacation cabin. They will calculate areas of the flooring, siding and roofing. Then they will research the internet and choose materials, find actual costs, and calculate total materials costs for those parts of their cabin. This project involves measuring the area and perimeter of rectangular objects in the classroom, as well as the diameter, radius, area, and circumference of two circular objects. A detailed rubric is provided to guide students in understanding their assessment.

This lab is a group project designed for my honors geometry. They research a mathematician that had a contribution to geometry. As a group they must create a creative poster board and short presentation to be given in front of the class.
