I used this template to create Writing Offices for my third grade students. The students have these offices available when they are writing and can refer to the information listed there! It includes information about: the writing process, an editing checklist, punctuation, writing super sentences, transition and story words, letter formation (both print and cursive) and a space to put current work.

Lightning Thief Writing Packet
A story writing packet for a unit on "The Lightning Thief," by Rick Riordan. Students will write their own half-blood story with 16 pages of guidance on creating characters, locations, and event sequences. They will fill in a story map and edit their final work.

This computer technology project is great for Powerpoint, Publisher, or KidPix. It is a good way to introduce Social Studies while teaching students how to insert clip art, insert text box, word art, etc. I read Me on the Map with my students prior to doing this in the computer lab.

"What Makes Me Beautiful"
This project/assignment was developed for an all-girls character education class, but could be used in any class, co-ed or gender-specific, as a character education lesson. The assignment allows students to showcase what they're most proud of about themselves and present it to the class in visual form. I have students work on this in class and at home, with students orally presenting the final product in class. It's a fun way to get to know each other and build students' self-esteem as well.
