In this project students simplify numerical expressions involving fractions and create a "string design" using their solutions from their fraction problems. They first divide a circle into 20 parts, which is a good review for using a protractor and label each point with a letter A through T. Four of the points have been included on the circle as a guide. Please note that students tend to draw "wedges" when dividing the circle into parts. This is not necessary but may be helpful for students to s

Dolbear's Equation - Linear regression

Dolbear theorized that the temperature can be computed by counting the number of times a cricket chirps in 15 seconds, and then adding 40 for the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit. For example, if a cricket chirped 20 times in 15 seconds, Dolbear theorized that would mean that the outside temperature was 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Find a linear equation that relates cricket chirps to degrees Fahrenheit. Use N for number of chirps and F for Fahrenheit.

This puzzle has two parts: the first 64 measures (20 different timbres) and the coda (same timbre choices). That's it. This Vimeo playlist provides all the information you will ne
