Needs & Wants Game

I recently ran across this fantastic lesson plan from PeaceChild International. I loved it. So I created a PowerPoint and these cute cards to go along with the lesson. In this lesson, students are divided into 5-6 groups. They are each given a deck of 45 cards that show different items. They are then told they are going on a journey to a new planet, and must choose which items to bring. But there is a limit! What do you truly need and what is ultimately a want? This download comes with:PDF files

This is a game that asks students what items they would need to survive on a new planet. I have included instructions, class discussion questions, and ideas for differentiation. There is a group activity worksheet for students to use during the game. I have used this activity to teach needs vs wants, and also for novel studies such as Lord of the Flies and Tomorrow When the War Began. Please remember to rate my product and leave feedback below! I'd love to hear how this worked with your class.
