One Direction Game Middle East
This is a great game for geography students, to help them with relative positioning. They are to identify two key cities on a map, and then they estimate the direction and distance they would be traveling. Using nautical (air) miles, they use the scale on their map to make their best guess. This works best in teams of twos. After five rounds, whomever was closest the most times is the One Direction Game winner.

The following document contains the "Bento Box Challenge"Students are given the length, width, and depth of a bento box and must calculate how much it will cost per square inch to build the bento box. Students put their knowledge of surface area and net models to the test in this group recommended performance task. Flag Measurement Project
This is a great project to reinforce scale drawing skills. Students get to choose a state or country flag of their choice and create a scale drawing of the flag. They are to calculate the area of each of the different colors and shape. I used this with both 7th and 8th graders and they really enjoyed this project. Display completed work around the room. A rubric is included for easy grading.
