Using a smartboard students can create their own four beat rhythms! Students drag and drop the notes into the box. Level one uses hearts and broken hearts for simple eighth and quarter note rhythms. Level two uses standard notation to compose with quarter, eighth, and quarter rest rhythms. Level three adds in half notes. I use this to have students take turns composing a rhythm and the rest of the class performing the rhythm. This can also be used as a center.
