I have created a SMARTboard lesson that introduces students to plagiarism. The lesson covers what plagiarism is, who can commit plagiarism, and even some of the consequences of it. It includes several famous examples of "borrowing work" and has many links to additonal information for discussion. It also include a short quiz.

This is a short lesson on Cause and Effect. The first two pages are a short story and answer page.

Opinion Writing - Understanding Parts of a Paper Dog Autopsy Activity
THE STUDENTS GET TO IMAGINE THAT THEIR DOG HAS JUST EATEN THEIR HOMEWORK. THEY TAKE IT TO A VETERINARIAN TO GET THE HOMEWORK OUT. THE VETERINARIAN ASKS THE STUDENT TO ASSIST THEM WITH GETTING THE PAPER OUT. STUDENTS THEN STICK THEIR HANDS INSIDE THE DOGS STOMACH (32 OUNCE YOGURT CONTAINERS, OR CONTAINERS OF EQUAL SIZE) AND PULL OUT DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE PAPER, AND MUST PUT THEM TOGETHER. X-PLANE Sentence Strategy
The X-PLANE Sentence Strategy is a unique approach to teaching your students how to explain their thoughts when they write. We came up with this strategy when our students struggled to explain their thoughts and support their answers. Expository Research 5-Paragraph Essay SMART Response Assessment
After learning the components of a 5-paragraph essay, students can take this as a formative assessment to show the teacher that they are ready to submit their final draft.
