Personal Narrative
Writing Unit (about 2-3 weeks)
Grades 2,3,4 but can be adapted for older or younger grades
EACH LESSON INCLUDES A LEARNING OBJECTIVE!
This Unit incorporates the use of literature as inspiration for writing our personal narrative. It's created for a 2nd or 3rd grade Personal Narrative writing Unit.
Each day requires:
*reading a book
*teacher models a graphic organizer
*students complete their own organizer
*short paragraphs written for each organizer

I have created a SMARTboard lesson that introduces students to plagiarism. The lesson covers what plagiarism is, who can commit plagiarism, and even some of the consequences of it. It includes several famous examples of "borrowing work" and has many links to additonal information for discussion. It also include a short quiz.

Expository Revision
Students will use this SMARTboard lesson to revise their expository essay. The pages will help your students add elaboration, voice, support, details, transitions, and fluency to their rough draft. They will proof their essay with a guided peer editing session. This lesson is full of writing activities that may be used individually or as a unit.

Expository Research 5-Paragraph Essay SMART Response Assessment
After learning the components of a 5-paragraph essay, students can take this as a formative assessment to show the teacher that they are ready to submit their final draft. If students do not do well with it, the teacher can see what they may need to revisit and revise, before students are finished with the final product. Answer Key is embedded in the document.
