Quilts of the Heart Craft Activity for SMART Board
Every year during the winter my students and I love to make paper quilts. There is so much American history in the topic of quilting. This activity is fun for students of any age as they create quilt blocks from a template. The SMART Board activity is linked to literature, math and social studies. Common Core Standards for 3rd grade are included along with step by step instructions and examples. Finally there is an interactive quilt page where students can create their own quilt.

Secret Valentine's Day Activity
This is a fun activity you can use in your classroom leading up to Valentine's Day. This is how it works:
1) You assign every student a secret Valentine
2) Students write their secret Valentine a series of five clues. Four of the clues will be true, and one clue will be a "red herring" or a clue that is not true (to throw their Valentine off)
3) Students will TYPE clues. This is important because of they hand write them, it will be easy to tell who has who
4) Each day will be a delivery day lead

SmartBoard Attendance files, set of seven winter/spring holiday
This is a set of seven winter and spring holiday themed files. These files are also available individually for $1.00 each, sold here for $5.50 for all seven holiday files. They are a fun and convenient way to take attendance. Students move their piece as instructed on the file when they enter the room. This is a fun creative thinking/writing lesson that will help students build a clear understanding of the parts of a paragraph and can extend to the parts of an essay using an analogy between paragraphs and cheeseburgers. It would also be a fun review for paragraph writing.
