Description

These slides use graphic organizers to teach students how to delineate an author’s claim for any expository text. The sample used is the story of Romulus and Remus, but it can be used for any text. The graphic organizer really helps students understand how to delineate and trace an author’s claim. The slides include vocabulary related to the skill of tracing a claim as well as scaffolding for students who need it. I’ve also included a student printout so that students have access to the graphic organizer. This lesson covers multiple common core standards, but the power standard is RI 8. This is an excellent source for common core standards.

Standards: RI 8, RI2, RI3.
