This lesson accompanies the picture book What Do You Do With An Idea? by Kobi Yamada. After reading the story aloud, students draw a picture of their own "idea" and answer questions in writing. It requires students to think abstractly and to combine their thoughts with knowledge from the story. Could be used as a "back to school" activity, introduction to a writer's workshop, or to set up a classroom environment that encourages risk-taking and values all ideas.
