Metacognitive Markers

Metacognitive Markers is a tool I like to use to ensure close reading of texts. I tell my students at the beginning of the year that taking meta markers is mandatory, and by the time October rolls around, they're doing it without me asking. Meta Markers ensure that students are following along with the text and allow students to make notes to themselves which makes it easier when they begin writing their papers. Print these out to display around your classroom and check out my Writing Resource

Each page includes two strategy bookmarks featuring three squares where strategies can be written on post-its. The way I have used them in the classroom is cutting them into two and laminating for durability. Made for easy storage in their writing folder.
