This is a hands-on lab that measures student lung volume. It tends to make students aware of how much their lungs are affected by vaping, smoking, second hand smoking, etc. I have had students weep when they realize their lung volume is merely 500 cc when it should be 2500-3000 cc. It uses an incentive spirometer that can be purchased online with coin filler paper wraps as makeshift mouth pieces.
