This activity will be a guided class activity in which students choose their career from a list of careers and median salaries. The students will then use websites and given information to determine their school loan payments, buy a house, determine their mortgage, utilities, car payment, insurance and groceries/living expenses. The students will be able to complete a budget sheet and then a short 4 question reflection sheet from the activity. My students did this at the end of 8th grade math

Candy Germ Transmission
Need a fun way to teach how germs are spread? Candy Germ Transmission is a fun experiment that can work well with any age group. I use it for high school, but I have friends who have used it in elementary school as well.
The experiment uses two similar candies that are transferred between student pairs. Only a few students are "infected". By the end of the experiment your class can see how germs are spread both directly and indirectly.

Phone Sanitation Experiment
Are you teaching culinary classes and want to show how dirty phones are? I did so I created this activity! Using fresh bread, a phone, and a ziplock bag, and in a week you can create a nice visual of how truly unsanitary it is to have or use your phones in the kitchens. For a high school Personal Finance class, this is a multi-day project that has students plan and calculate the cost of a one-week vacation. They plan and research their own airfare, hotel accommodations, tourist attractions, etc.... and in the process figure out how much money they really do need to save in order to go on vacation. The last page provides a template for the teachers to calculate the student's grade.
