TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching high school Family and Consumer Sciences for 11 years. I have taught Parenting, Foods I and II Enterprise, Teen Living, Foods II Technology, and Principles of Family and Human Services.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In teaching Family and Consumer Sciences, I have to be flexible. Most of my teaching style is derived from kinesthetic activities that are hands on and keep my students active. I love using interactive notebooks, and I am busy integrating them in my classes.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated in 2006 from East Carolina University with a BS in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. I taught for 3 years before beginning the National Boards process as well as entering grad school. I achieved NBPTS in November 2010 and I graduated from High Point University in May 2012 with my MA Ed in Educational Leadership.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have always been fascinated with pirates and North Carolina history. That may be part of the reason I chose to attend ECU! I am in my eleventh year of teaching high school. It really does keep me on my toes!
