I have 8 years of teaching experience in both ELA and social studies.
It's all about literacy and critical thinking about our place in the world. I predominantly teach "low income" students, and mostly students of color, which requires me to check myself and innovate with every lesson. The old way won't cut it with these kiddos. They need movement, engagement, alternate histories, and high-interest texts to keep them learning. I love what I do.

I graduated with honors with a bachelor's in history from the University of Wisconsin in 2009. I then went on to complete two years of service in Oklahoma with the Teach For America program. Now I teach at a charter school outside Detroit, which challenges and inspires me daily!
