The reading log includes topics related to the novel students are reading. The topics are general but intended to promote ideas and thoughts specific to the book they've chosen. I used this several years ago with my 8th grade students and recently found it again. I like that that it does not just make a note of the pages read and summary (although a summary question is included), but students get to choose a question that is related to what they've recently read.
