Study of Immigration Stories Spanish SLA Unit Reading Writing Personal Narrative

8 short stories/ personal essays about how teens and young adults experience immigration. Each is based on a true story and I can't wait to read texts with students that I think will help them understand themselves better! I plan to have my Heritage classes and Advanced Spanish classes read each of the 8 personal essays in small groups and rotate through the texts. I think they will relate to many of the ideas and that it will be refreshing for them to read stories that they can relate to.

Music of The Americas (North&South) Google Slidedeck with Images/Videos/Prompts

This "Music of The Americas" is Unit 3 in my World Music Survey course, that begins in Asia and ends in Europe. There are several formative tasks within, and a summative wrap-up assignment that could easily be optional. When taught in full (full videos, discussion, etc.), this unit

At the end of the unit, students should come away with the understanding that many of our current labor injustices for farmworkers connect back to slavery and historic and present-day immigration laws.
