Description

8 short stories/ personal essays about how teens and young adults experience immigration. Each is based on a true story and I can't wait to read texts with students that I think will help them understand themselves better! I plan to have my Heritage classes and Advanced Spanish classes read each of the 8 personal essays in small groups and rotate through the texts. I think they will relate to many of the ideas and that it will be refreshing for them to read stories that they can relate to. The questions provided will guide small group discussions. There is a page of follow up activities to guide students in writing their own immigration stories or interviewing immigrants to learn more about how place and belonging impact identity. No Prep ready to go Unit. I plan to spend 1-2 weeks reading and discussing the stories and then assign students the follow up writing activities during the third week.
