American Sign Language (ASL) is its own language with a unique syntax, a syntax that doesn't usually "match" the meter and lyrics of a song that is sung in an audible language. With that in mind, signs have been provided in this lesson that match the beat and words of the song "Happy Birthday" (rather than true ASL syntax). In other words, you can sing the song with your voice while you sign the concepts at the same time.
