5 Minutes Left and What Can I Do? : 100 Fun and Challenging Puzzles
Thank you for visiting this page! After 30+ years of teaching, these are my absolute favorite classroom-tested time fillers. Every teacher needs to have something ready when a planned lesson ends earlier than anticipated or the kids just need a break at the end of the period.
Some puzzles I have used over the years just do not work well; these all do. What they have in common is that they are challenging, engaging to all students, and effective problem-solving/critical thinking activities.

Mathemon - Addition Fact Fluency Card Game (Like Pokemon)
Here is my latest creation! In this card game I have fused addition facts and subtraction/addition of two and three digit numbers with the elements of a "Pokemon" or "Yugioh" type monster battling game. I love to use this activity at the beginning of the school year or whenever a group of students come together for the first time (in a club, for example).
