Macbeth was the first Shakespeare play I ever taught, and it helped me appreciate how much fun your students can have while acting out a drama in the classroom. However, this experience also helped me understand what aspects of a Shakespearean drama frustrate students and teachers. Some of the characters are confusing, some scenes do not advance the plot or are not school appropriate, and some of the language is dense. For these reasons, I created an abridged and modified version of Macbeth. Every

In an effort to make the text more accessible for students, I eli

I feel this acutely with Julius Caesar, which I read with sophomores. For these reasons, I created an abridged and modified version of Julius Caesar. Every scene has been condensed. I have long found CCSS. 9-10.7/11-12.7, which deal with analyzing multiple versions of a work, to be extremely challenging. The standard grows more complicated when teachers consider the 9-10 standard specifically indicates that students should consider two different mediums, and the 11-12 standard identifies Shakespeare by name. Because I find these standards particularly difficult, I developed this resource, which takes students through different visual interpretations of the Macbeth. Students
