Balancing Equations the SMART Way

AFTER USING THIS, ALL OF MY STUDENTS CAN BALANCE EQUATIONS WITH 85%+ ACCURACY!!! This is an activity for students to master the skill of balancing chemical equations. It does so by not using any math skills beyond addition. Although the lesson begins with the 'model method', I feel that the real application of this lesson the 'chemical pull down method'. There are enough slides in this presentation for each student in your class to come to the board and prove that they can balance equations.

Mendel, Genetics, and Meiosis Notes (SmartBoard)

This Smartboard Notebook is all about Gregor Mendel and the basics of genetics, Punnet Squares and Pedigrees, and the stages of meiosis as they relate to sexual and asexual reproduction. It covers Mendel's pea plants studies, monohybrid and dihybrid crosses as seen in Punnet Squares, and the stages of meiosis and what happens on the cellular level. It also compares sexual and asexual reproduction.

Staying Safe with Lab Safety -- SMART Board

This SMART Board presentation is presented in the form of a game! Student groups can compete against each other to identify the lab safety item that is revealed. The first team to correctly identify receives a point. Each slide has a specific theme in lab safety--if a team can correctly guess the theme they receive three points!! The presentation is on a bright yellow background and easy to read titles. Lab items are hidden and can be revealed one at a time by pulling on the star. The ov
